A New Zealand mother died after Mercury Energy, the local power company, cut power to her house. Mercury Energy says that a $122 unpaid bill forced the disconnection service and that “more than one” disconnection notice had been sent to the house in the previous 2 months. It is also unclear as to whether Mercury Energy actually tried to assist her in keeping the power on. However, a manager at Mercury says the company was “devastated”.

Officials Kominato Hotel Mikazuki notified police that the bath tub was missing from a section of a resort hotel’s 10th floor bathroom. Visitors could use the tub but it was open very limited hours and in a special part of the bathroom due to “security risks”.

CKE is known for running controversial ads for its chains, including one featuring a scantily clad Paris Hilton washing a car while eating a burger. The burger war is just starting to heat up according to both sides.

Police say that elementary school kids were buying marijuana alongside their drumsticks from an ice cream man near the Mexico border. Raymundo Flores, a illegal immigrant from Mexico was arrested Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana. Most of Flores customer’s were students in the third, fourth and fifth grades.
“It’s a scary thought, but that’s the info we received,” Mission police Chief Leo Longoria said.

HUNTINGTON, W.VA. — Michael Lusher apparently can sleep through anything. Lusher suffered a gunshot to the head but did not realize it until he woke up 4 hours later. The bullet that struck him was one of five that went through a mobile home park at around 4:20 A.M. Sunday. Mr. Lusher is currently hospitalized but his condition is unknown.

HENRY COUNTY, Ga.–Bryan Sims a student who is on his school’s wrestling team and film club at Luella High. Bryan was picked on all year by another sophomore student this included being threatened with his life. He told his dad about the incidents and his father went to the administration.
“I said, ‘I expect this to be resolved, if it’s not resolved, I’ll have to be back here in a couple weeks and we’ll have to have a different conversation, up to and including, if I have to withdraw my son from school because I feel he’s not safe,” said Rob Sims.
Bryan was threatened again a few days later and finally made a decision to retailte. Bryan put the boy in a submission hold. However, school officials charged him with four administrative charges. Bryan was found guilty of one, physical abuse and suspended for the rest of the year.
First off, Bryan and his parents did the right thing by going to the administration. However, they should of escalated to the Superintendent of Students or similar position, if that did not resolve they should of escalated to the Superintendent of Schools. If that did not resolve they should of gone to the police. I have dealt with bullying before and have gone to the police and pressed charges against several students. Bullying is not taken lightly by me and Bryan did the right thing. I would file a lawsuit against the school for suspending him. Go Bryan!

This 120-year-old Searles Castle stands in Massachusetts’ Berkshire mountains and has 40 rooms with 7 turrets. The castle has been a school, and a private residence for a railroad tycoon widow. It was originally built in 1888. In the United States seeing a castle for sale is not very likely. However, in some European countries, especially France there is a selection of over 100.
“There aren’t enough castles marketed and sold in the United States that we bother keeping track of them,” said Steve Cook, vice president of public affairs for the National Association of Realtors.

NORTH CANTON, OHIO — Kristina Schneider tried to convince a customer to buy the last ticket on a roll of magnificent millions lottery tickets but the customer said he only had enough for three tickets. Kristina bought the ticket herself and WON a million dollars. Kristina is a signle mother with nine maxed out credit cards. Schneider, 32, opted to take 20 yearly payments of $50,000, or $34,500 after taxes.
“If I’d have taken a lump sum, I’d be broke again within five years,” she said.

A man who claimed he thought he was a female elf when he stole underwear from a Belfast shop at knifepoint, has been jailed for two years. Robert Boyd, 45, from Broadlands in Carrickfergus, held up staff at the Orchid shop on the Lisburn Road disguised in a wig, hat and glasses. Boyd stole 250 British pounds worth of bra’s and other female related articles. The judge ordered Boyd to serve two years for armed robbery and also to serve two years probation after exiting prison.
Maybe you should stop with the role playing games Mr. Boyd if you cannot be useful to society.
Several parties are currently duking out the trademark battle over the phone number “867-5309″. The song was made famous by Tommy Tutone in his band’s hit single from 1982. The song made it to number 4 on the billboard top 100 hundred charts. Tommy supposedly copyrighted the phone number, but that is now in the center of the dispute.

Steve Coniglio and a teaching assistant are receiving a weeks long series of rabies vaccines. The vaccines cost $3,500 and are being made available to any parent who wants their children to receive them. Coniglio and the assistant were the only one’s determined by the health department to need the vaccines.

Destin, FL- A local bar with signs saying “Ladies” but with smaller print that says it is really the men’s room has been ordered to remove the signs by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The complaint came from a man who walked in on his 15 year old daughter. She left the restaurant in tears. However,a petition is already circulating. Some 3,000 signatures have been garnered to bring back the signs.
This is purely bizzare. Why does a restaurant need joke restroom signs? Although, it might be prime reasons for the local teenagers. I can see why they would want them.
WHITEHAVEN, ENGLAND- A different kind of “bells” have tolled for a groom from Whitehaven. The prospective groom had his belongings including clothes, CDs, DVDs and van dumped into the bay. Emma Thomason, 24, was arrested and charged with aggravated vehicle taking without consent but was released on bail. The van was pulled out of the harbor this previous Monday. “The recovery operation was quite difficult, they had to partly drain the harbor to get the vehicle out,” said Inspector David Gartland of Cumbria Police.

Archaic laws of New York has threatened a small town’s only grocery store and restaurant. Potter, NY officials added a yes or no vote to the ballot in their general election on whether or not the local restaurant should be able to sell beer. This became a problem when the state liquor authority came and added five confusing questions to the ballot. Resident’s then voted down ANY AND ALL alcohol in their town. Their only hope is a last ditch effort in the New York legislature.
Got to be careful these days. Maybe the government will steal your liquor or worse yet close all the small business.
For not being able to talk, walk or even drive yet Bubba Ludwig got his very first gun permit. The 10 month old got his FOID after his father filled out the application form and submitted it with the fee. It is perfectly legal in Illinois as there is no age restriction on the cards.
I am just glad the kid did not get an actual fireman. Phew!
